Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Subhendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in the assembly, expressed strong disapproval of the way Trinamool Congress workers entered the Matuad temple with flags and forcibly occupied the Thakurbari. Adhikari criticized the lack of written permission from Thakurbari and highlighted that no other Prime Minister or Chief Minister had visited the temple except Narendra Modi.
Speaking at a function in Howrah, Adhikari also commented on recent incidents involving a Lok Sabha member raising his hand on the floor, emphasizing that the police would understand the consequences. He responded to Abhishek Banerjee's statement about defeating Shantanu Thakur in the elections, stating that his track record showed that those he targeted actually ended up winning.
Adhikari further predicted that if the panchayat polls were conducted similarly to Sagardighi, the Trinamool Congress would not fare well. He highlighted the dire condition of the Howrah district hospital, mentioning the lack of infrastructure and the stark contrast with the considerable expenditure on transportation and sanitization for an MP.
Regarding the upcoming Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha constituency elections, Adhikari forecasted that the primary contest would be between the BJP and Naushad Siddiqui, with the Trinamool Congress securing the third position.
